Diversity & Inclusion

Grierson DocLab :

Talented People is proud to be a supporter of Grierson DocLab and Grierson DocLab In Focus: Production Management. Run by The Grierson Trust in partnership with Netflix, these training schemes help talented individuals thrive in the world of documentary and factual programme-making.

The Grierson Trust is a registered charity that exists to promote documentary filmmaking and its training arm equips under-represented talent with the knowledge, skills and networks to take their first steps into the industry. The core scheme is backed by an expanding group of indie production companies, and is for UK-based new entrants aged 18-25. It is designed to help those from under-represented backgrounds to launch their career in any behind-the-scenes role in factual TV. The Production Management scheme, introduced in 2021 to help plug skills gaps in this area, is for those aged 18+ with the transferable skills to forge a successful career as a Production Secretary and beyond.

The team at TP is grateful to play a part in supporting this richly diverse and ambitious next generation of filmmakers and production managers with talks, CV sessions and mentoring.

Deaf & Disabled People in TV :

We work closely with the founders of ‘Deaf & Disabled People in TV’ to source and meet the industry’s best disabled talent and promote and encourage inclusive hiring practices among our clients.

Some of the DDPTV team joined us on this industry session on being disabled in TV. It’s a lively and forward-thinking discussion with five freelancers who speak about the barriers faced, being disability confident and harnessing the creativity that comes from lived experiences.

Find more industry sessions we’ve hosted tackling diversity and inclusion, such as ‘Being Black in TV’, on our TP sessions page.
