An Ode to 2024: Channels Change (But Stories Stay)

Fri 20 Dec 2024 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

It’s been quite the year for all you talented people in TV. So we felt creative, and perhaps a little bit philosophical, and wrote a poem, or lyrics to a song. It’s channelling Fairytale in New York vibes we reckon… what do you think?

Channels Change (But Stories Stay), by Talented People

It’s Winter in Soho, but streamers shine bright
With true crime and sports docs still trending each night
The middle ground’s vanished, it’s go big or go small
While MrBeast on Prime proves there’s room for us all

Some crews are still working, but learning new ways
As Sidemen hit Netflix, the game starts to change
Directors and Editors skilled in their craft
Now mastering quick cuts and vertical drafts

***
For the future’s bright tonight
On every kind of screen
And somewhere there’s a story
That’s waiting to be seen
***

Series Producers still chase the next tale
As platforms keep changing, their instincts prevail
Though many stand waiting for phones to bring news
Their storytelling magic still ready to use

PMs juggle budgets with calmness and flair
Keeping premium content afloat in thin air
While Researchers now dine on a digital plate
Format hunting on TikTok and Chicken Shop Date

***
‘Cause talent keeps flowing
Through every new door
And great stories matter
Now more than before
***

Development teams fight to scratch viewers’ itch
As Producers re-RE-package their next killer pitch
The skills that made broadcast still show us the way
As platforms compete for the content they play

Where once stood just channels, now platforms abound
But sharp TV minds help good content get found
The industry’s changing, but this much is true:
There’s always an audience waiting to view

Yes the industry’s changing, but this much is true:
There’s always an audience waiting to view.

Behind the scenes of The Imposter Club – season 2 launch
