Co-MD Kimberly Godbolt announces the launch of the TV industry’s brand new podcast
It’s finally time to fling The Imposter Club’s doors wide open to the world of TV production and creative people everywhere.
A podcast from Talented People has been months, no years in the making if I’m honest. As you know, we’ve always felt passionately about bringing meaningful and relatable content to our network on top of the team’s headhunting and staffing day job.
Anything that can make this sometimes brutal industry a better place to work; to inform as well as bring you together. And after a few years of popular but increasingly irregular Facebook Live sessions, we decided it’s time to join the podcast movement, be more accessible on the move and wheedle our way into your world with a (good) weekly habit.
So what is The Imposter Club and why should you listen I hear you ask? Sensible question, and your time is precious, I am acutely aware of that. It’s an audio series of behind-the-screens chats with high profile industry figures who are willing to confess to frequently feeling like a fraud, despite their credentials… All in the spirit of helping us feel better about often not knowing what we’re doing either. And of course, being the curious person that I am, I delve far deeper than this sense of mutual winging it.
I feel privileged to have had incredibly candid conversations with my guests: Fatima Salaria opens up to me about her experiences coming through the ranks as a young Asian woman in a male environment, Emmy & BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Olly Lambert tells me of the emotional turmoil of shooting his docs in warzones, and Phil Edgar Jones OBE talks about his whole year of failure after the peak of his career as Creative Director of Big Brother… I could go on, but don’t want to give too many spoilers.
The team and I wanted to create a podcast that exposes the real humans behind the awards and the leadership roles. A podcast that feels like it’s made just for you as you navigate your way through a complex and addictive but incredibly rewarding TV career. Like a warm hug, or a mug of hot chocolate, or perhaps an episode of Ted Lasso…Let’s face it, TV is a packed place to work but it can be lonely too. So let’s change that. It would mean so much to me if you listen, review and share the podcast with friends so that we can reach as many fellow TV imposters as possible. After all, we’re all just making it up as we go along aren’t we?
And yep, that definitely includes me producing and hosting this podcast 😉

Kimberly Godbolt, Joint MD of Talented People, gives her opinion on what's happened to the content-making market since late 2022. It’s been about 18 months since we sensed a downturn in the TV market at Talented People. About 12 months since we started having to make...
Joint MD of TP Kimberly Godbolt ponders of the making of season two of The Imposter Club podcast. When I put the headphones on, I’m transported into 'Podcast Me'. Which is kind of like 'Director Me' from the old days. I step into a bubble wearing that headset, where...
1st June 2023 Happy Pride month one and all! We know that it’s not enough to simply change your company logo for a day/week/month, or churn out some supportive sentence we saw on a meme #virtuesignalling. But I hope that by now you know that TP means business on the...
Kimberly Godbolt, joint MD of Talented People, writes about her experience at this year's Sheffield DocFest Just back from Sheffield DocFest, and honestly? I'm buzzing. Not just from the caffeine overload required to survive three days of back-to-back screenings and...
It's been quite the year for all you talented people in TV. So we felt creative, and perhaps a little bit philosophical, and wrote a poem, or lyrics to a song. It's channelling Fairytale in New York vibes we reckon... what do you think?Channels Change (But Stories...
It was a last minute thing for us, going to Edinburgh TV Festival this year. Of course, it’s the kind of industry event we should be at every year - it's a perfect mix of business and pleasure for TP: mingling with both indie and broadcaster clients as well as...
